Mandatory Patreon switch — deadline Oct 31, 2026 · 11:59 pm PT

Switch on your prices — or Patreon switches you on its.

Every legacy Patreon creator — per-creation and first-of-the-month billing alike — is being moved to subscription billing by November 1, 2026. Do nothing and Patreon does it for you: your billing pauses and your tiers get repriced by a peak-month formula you never chose. TierSwitch is the done-for-you migration that sets your prices deliberately, before the deadline.

Covered by the No-Pause Promise: pre-deadline Switch Packs delivered before Nov 1, or free.

The problem

Doing nothing is the most expensive option on the table.

Patreon's forced migration has four traps built into it. Each one is documented in Patreon's own Help Center — and each one lands on creators who wait.

Trap 01 · Paused billing

Auto-switched pages stop getting paid

$0 collected while paused

If you don't switch yourself, Patreon auto-switches you on November 1 — and your billing is paused until you configure your new prices. Paused months are never billed later. That revenue isn't delayed. It's gone.

Trap 02 · Peak-month default

Your tiers get repriced off your single busiest month

$5 → $15 per month, by default

The auto-switch sets your monthly price using a default multiplier equal to your highest paid-post month of the last 3 months. Patreon's own example: a $5 per-creation tier with up to 3 paid posts in a month becomes a $15/month tier — whether your members ever actually paid $15 or not. Switch yourself and you can use a suggested multiplier based on your 3-month average instead.

Trap 03 · Help desk closed

Patreon's free 1:1 switching help is already gone

Oct 15 support closed, 2026

Patreon's free one-to-one switching support closed on October 15, 2026. From here to the deadline, you're on your own with the pricing math, the member caps, and the announcement — or you hand it to someone who does this all day.

Trap 04 · Caps & iOS math

Limits and Apple fees quietly rewrite your margins

+42.86% Patreon's iOS maintain-earnings price

Members' monthly limits are honored through the switch — good — but they have to be mapped correctly or pledges misprice. And on iOS, in-app purchases carry Apple's 30% fee: Patreon's price that maintains your earnings is 42.86% higher than your web price. Get either wrong and you either overcharge your fans or eat the fee yourself.

The worked example: a page earning $10,720/month

Same page, same members. The only difference is who sets the prices — Patreon's peak-month default, or a deliberate switch built on the 3-month average.

Auto-switch · do nothing

Supporter tier$5 / post$18.75 / mo
Insider tier$15 / post$56.25 / mo
Inner Circle tier$40 / post$150 / mo
Every tier repriced +25% by the peak-month default — a sticker-shock charge your members never agreed to. And while billing sits paused until you fix it: $10,720 lost for every paused month, never billed later.

TierSwitch · switched deliberately

Supporter tier$5 / post$15 / mo
Insider tier$15 / post$45 / mo
Inner Circle tier$40 / post$120 / mo
Prices set from your 3-month average posting pace — what members actually pay today. Billing never pauses: $10,720/month keeps flowing, and members get a heads-up post written for you, not a surprise charge.

The calculator

Run your own tier through the default formula

Enter one per-creation tier. The first number is what the auto-switch does to it; the second is the average-based price a deliberate switch can use.

$
Auto-switch default
$15.00/mo
Priced off your peak month — the formula Patreon applies if you do nothing.
Deliberate switch
$12.00/mo
Priced off your 3-month average — what this tier actually earns in a typical month.
iOS maintain-earnings price
$17.14/mo
The deliberate price + 42.86%, so Apple's 30% in-app fee doesn't come out of your pocket.
Overcharge avoided · per member / month

Across 100 members on this tier · per month

Illustrative math based on Patreon's published switching rules (Patreon Help Center, verified Oct 28, 2026). Your members' existing monthly limits are honored under both paths.

How it works

Four steps. You approve the prices; we do everything else.

The switch itself is permanent — there is no undo and no second draft. That's exactly why the pricing work happens up front, with your sign-off, before anything is touched.

STEP 1

Audit your page

We pull your tiers, per-creation prices, paid-post history for the last 3 months, member monthly limits, and iOS exposure — and model exactly what the auto-switch default would do to each tier.

STEP 2

Design your prices

You get a tier-by-tier pricing plan built on your 3-month average, with member caps mapped and iOS maintain-earnings prices calculated. Nothing moves until you approve every number.

STEP 3

We execute the switch

We configure subscription billing with your approved prices, verify caps carried over correctly, and confirm billing is live — no pause, no gap, no peak-month surprises.

STEP 4

Announce & verify

Your members get a clear announcement post (drafted for you) explaining the change before their first subscription charge — then we verify the first billing cycle lands as planned.

Order a Switch Pack before the deadline and we guarantee this: your migration is delivered before November 1, 2026, with billing configured and live — or the Switch Pack is free. FAQ

Straight answers, from Patreon's own rules.

What exactly happens if I do nothing?
On November 1, 2026, Patreon auto-switches your page to subscription billing. Your billing is paused until you configure your new prices — and paused months are never billed later. When pricing does get set under the default, your tiers are multiplied by your highest paid-post month of the last 3 months, not your average. If your busiest month had 3 paid posts, a $5 tier becomes $15/month.
What's the actual deadline?
To switch on your own terms, you must complete the move to subscription billing by October 31, 2026, at 11:59 pm PT. After that, the auto-switch takes over on November 1.
Can I switch back if I don't like the new prices?
No. The switch to subscription billing is permanent. That's the core reason to get the pricing right before you move — and why TierSwitch models every tier and gets your approval before executing.
What happens to members who set monthly limits?
Their limits are honored through the switch. TierSwitch maps and verifies each capped membership against its new monthly price so nobody is charged above the limit they set.
Why is the iOS price 42.86% higher?
Purchases made inside Patreon's iOS app carry Apple's 30% fee. To end up with the same earnings as a web purchase, the iOS price has to be grossed up — Patreon's maintain-earnings figure is +42.86% over the web price. We configure this deliberately, tier by tier, instead of letting it surprise you or your members.
Can't I just ask Patreon for help switching?
Not anymore. Patreon's free 1:1 switching support closed on October 15, 2026. The Help Center documentation remains, but the human guidance is gone — which is the gap TierSwitch fills.
I'm on first-of-the-month billing, not per-creation. Does this apply to me?
Yes. The mandate covers every legacy billing model — per-creation and first-of-the-month alike. All of it moves to subscription billing by November 1, 2026.
How does the No-Pause Promise work?
Buy a Switch Pack before the deadline and we deliver your completed migration before November 1, 2026 — prices configured, billing live. If we miss that, the Switch Pack is free. Sentinel is a separate monthly service and isn't part of the guarantee.
What do you need from me to start?
Checkout takes two minutes. After that we collect your page details and posting history for the audit, send you a pricing plan for approval, and only execute once you've signed off on every tier's new price. You never hand over your password — access is arranged securely during onboarding.

The deadline doesn't move. Your prices still can.

Switch before October 31, 11:59 pm PT and November 1 is just another billing day. Wait, and it's a paused page and a peak-month price list with your name on it.
